Bridging the Gap (Year) Career Coaching
Your Path Forward
This time of year brings a wave of important decisions for students: next year’s classes, major and minor requirements, and pathways to a future career. The considerations can overwhelm, and many are considering alternatives to a four-year college degree. Fundamental questions that need answers often arise. Questions like: “What are my options?” and “How will I succeed?”. To pave the way, LAS offers a personalized path forward that begins with an initial consultation, inventories, goal setting and exploration, skill development, and transferability.
Creating pathways to employment means exploring core interests, values, and strengths. Inventories such as the RIASEC Model (Realistic Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, Conventional) can help clarify these interests and lead to self-discovery and a path forward.
LAS Career Coaching helps young adults chart their path forward, whether choosing a high school elective, pursuing a trade, or declaring a major that aligns with real-world employment opportunities.
With so many post-secondary school options, an increasing number of students are choosing a technical certification or attending community college, instead of pursuing a four-year degree. To ensure individualized support, LAS career coaching addresses individual career goals and needs, including Career Decision-Making, creating Work-Ready Documents, and looking for Job Search Support and Networking.
LAS Career Coaching begins with an initial consultation and includes formal and informal assessments so students learn how to chart their paths forward. LAS Career Coaching includes:
Personalized Assessments: Deepen insights and clarify passions and interests with personality inventories (like RIASEC) to highlight industry, trade, or positions that match individual strengths.
Goal Setting & Exploration: Establish goals for researching trade programs, connecting with mentors, developing a network, and job shadowing.
Transferable Skills: Develop skills that apply to real-world jobs.
