LAS Educational Coaching™ provides structure, support, and accountability to students in K-12 and higher education. LAS supports all students in developing a personal roadmap for learning and achievement. LAS provides an integrated approach to academic support that incorporates a wellness framework with research-based strategies, so students learn and achieve in measurable ways.

With more than 25 years of experience, LAS Coaches™ understand that for some students, academic support must go beyond tutoring and address the factors that impede learning. This requires an integrated approach to academic support, that incorporates a wellness framework with research-based strategies, to help students learn and achieve in measurable ways.

LAS Founder, Loren Deutsch, and the LAS Educational Coaches™ developed an integrated approach to academic support. With more than 25 years of teaching and curriculum design experience, LAS understands that learning requires more than content knowledge, it requires learning how to learn. For some students, this means traditional teaching models are too restrictive and do not address individual learning needs. Therefore, LAS provides an integrated approach to teaching and academic support. LAS incorporates differentiated instruction into a wellness framework, to address factors that impede learning.

Executive Functioning Support

Our Scholastic Managers are here to provide executive functioning support for all of our students. We recognize that everyone learns in a different way and at a different pace. Through our Executive Functioning Support, we can help students overcome learning obstacles, understand their own strengths and weaknesses, and ultimately help provide a more confident and positive learning experience all around.

One-on-One Tutoring

Many students learn better when they’re one-on-one with one of our Scholastic Managers. Our One-on-One Tutoring gives each student a dedicated instructor to work with and each session focuses on the student’s unique needs. Whether you’re preparing for a test or in need of some homework assistance, our instructors are ready to work with you to achieve your measurable goals!

Case Management

Case management is a hallmark of LAS and it is one of many services we offer that differentiates our academic support from conventional tutoring. All LAS Scholastic Managers are responsible for providing case management support to students, which includes communication and collaboration with educators, therapists, doctors, families, and individuals.

Parent Support

As the world continues to adapt to a post-Covid era, a lot of parents are facing overwhelming circumstances trying to balance a career, at-home schooling, and the realities of the world all at once. We are proud to help parents through this difficult time through a variety of ways, including Homeschool Curriculum Design, IEP & Section 504 Planning, and Case Management.

Homeschool Curriculum Design

In the age of COVID-19, many parents and students are searching for alternative methods to in-person schooling. Our Homeschool Curriculum Design program allows for students to work with a trained LAS instructor without the risk of in-person learning. We provide tele-commuication options to all of our students to provide a seamless and safe learning experience.

Study Skills Counseling and
Educational Therapy

Since each student is unique in the way they learn, we believe it’s crucial to look at each student’s studying habits through the lens of an educational therapist. Educational therapy is a one-on-one intervention used to support individuals with a range of learning challenges that include learning disorders, neurological deficits, and other related problems. Our Educational Therapy services are designed to support students from preschool through adulthood and utilizes case management to support individual learning and achievement.

IEP & Section 504 Planning

Understanding IEP and Section 504 Planning can be incredibly daunting. We’re here to make sure that you don’t go through it alone. Our Scholastic Managers are here to help break everything down for you and your child to ensure that they are getting the academic support that they need. LAS has a proven track record when it comes to consulting with schools and parents on specialized educational services like execution functioning support, curriculum design, and implementation of IEPs and 504 plans.

Initial Consultation

We believe that the first step towards achieving success is to listen and understand each student’s unique needs. LAS Scholastic Management services begin with an initial consultation, which consists of an initial intake meeting (in-person or via videoconference), a review of LAS forms and the student’s private documentation (reports, transcripts, standardized testing reports, etc.). Through our initial consultation, we receive a true assessment of where students are at in their academic journey.

Co-Constructing an Individual Education Plan

Following an Initial Consultation, our intake coordinator will compile all of the information and incorporate it into a written report. This report will include a description of presenting goals, concerns, and identified learning goals. It will also include previous empirical information, meeting impressions, and a proposed Individualized Education Plan with measurable outcomes and a shared Progress Tracker, for test preparation.

Scholastic Management Support

After the report is written, clients will receive a secured copy and an individualized Scholastic Manager. Scholastic Managers are assigned by the intake coordinator and the LAS Executive Director based on expertise, goodness of fit, and availability. This Scholastic Manager will have expertise and training to provide academic support and advocacy, progress tracking, resource identification, and accountability.If needed, our Scholastic Managers are also trained to assist with organization skills and strategies that address inattention, distraction, reading challenges, and executive function difficulties.

Think of a Scholastic Manager as a more hands-on tutor. Our Scholastic Managers are trained not only to assist with academic work, but executive functioning support as well. The difference between working with a tutor and a scholastic manager is that the scholastic manager will take into consideration learning disabilities, organization skills, and other strategies that can help improve academic outcomes.
