Work With Us

Whether you’re contending with burnout or searching for new test preparation strategies, our highly-trained Medical Coaches are here to support you through the process.

Executive Functioning Support

Our Medical Coaches are here to provide executive functioning support for all of our students. We recognize that everyone learns in a different way and at a different pace, especially throughout the medical education journey. Through our Executive Functioning Support, we can help medical students overcome learning obstacles, understand their own strengths and weaknesses, and ultimately help provide a more confident and positive learning experience all around.

Case Management

Case management is a hallmark of LAS and it is one of many services we offer that differentiates our academic support from conventional tutoring. All LAS Medical Coaches are responsible for providing case management support to students, which includes communication and collaboration with educators, therapists, doctors, families, and individuals.

Clinical Social Work

Clinical social work is a specialty practice area of social work which focuses specifically on the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of mental illness, emotional, and other behavioral disturbances. At LAS, we recognize that the medical education journey can be emotionally draining, discouraging, and defeating at times. Our Medical Coaches work with students to ensure that they have the emotional and educational support they need to succeed throughout their programs.

Personal Essay Support for ERAS Application

Getting ready to submit your ERAS Application can feel a bit intimidating, but our Medical Coaches are here to help support you through the process. We will ensure that your personal essay is reflective of your experiences as a medical student and represents your strengths and interests as you continue into your residency and fellowship programs.

Study Skills Counseling and Educational Therapy

Since each student is unique in the way they learn, we believe it’s crucial to look at each student’s studying habits through the lens of an educational therapist. Educational therapy is a one-on-one intervention used to support individuals with a range of learning challenges that include learning disorders, neurological deficits, and other related problems. Our Educational Therapy services are designed to support students throughout medical school while utilizing case management to support individual learning and achievement.

IEP & Section 504 Planning

Understanding IEP and Section 504 Planning can be incredibly daunting. Our Medical Coaches are here to break everything down for you, ensure that you get the academic support that you need, and advocate on your behalf. LAS has a proven track record when it comes to consulting with universities and medical schools on specialized educational services like execution functioning support, curriculum design, and implementation of IEPs and 504 plans.

Whether you’re contending with burnout or searching for new test preparation strategies, our highly-trained Medical Coaches are here to support you through the process.

    Initial Consultation

We believe that the first step towards achieving success is to listen and understand each student’s unique needs. LAS Medical Coaching begins with an initial consultation, which consists of an initial intake meeting (in-person or via videoconference), a review of LAS forms and the student’s private documentation (neuropsychological reports, 504 plans, IEP’s, transcripts, standardized testing reports, etc.), and when applicable, consultations with deans, program directors, and allied professionals. The Initial Consultation is a preliminary step designed for new and returning clients to clarify personal learning goals and presenting concerns, previous academic and test-taking experiences, prior and current academic information including current support, and applicable academic/neuro/bio/psycho/social information. Through our initial consultation, we receive a true assessment of where students are at in their medical education journey.

    Co-Constructing an Individual Education Plan

Following an Initial Consultation, our intake coordinator will compile all of the information and incorporate it into a written report. This report will include a description of presenting goals, concerns, and identified learning goals. It will also include previous empirical information, meeting impressions, and a proposed Individualized Education Plan with measurable outcomes and a shared Progress Tracker, for test preparation.

  • 03

    Scholastic Management Support

After the report is written, clients will receive a secured copy and an individualized Medical Coach. Medical Coaches are assigned by the intake coordinator and the LAS Executive Director based on expertise, goodness of fit, and availability. This Medical Coach will have expertise and training to provide academic support and advocacy, progress tracking, resource identification, and accountability. If needed, our Medical Coaches are also trained to assist with organization skills and strategies that address inattention, distraction, reading challenges, and executive function difficulties.
